Five
hundred potatoes are wired together to provide the current that powers
a small short-wave radio. The potatoes are arranged in concentric
circles. Each potato has a zinc and copper lead. All zinc leads are
wired together, as are the copper leads. The leads are wired in such
a way that the energy generated by the zinc and copper electrodes
goes directly to the radio. The radio is tuned to receive short-wave
transmissions. |
