This piece depicts the daily average temperatures and values for the relative humidity for each day in April 2014. The temperatures are represented in the scaled colors on the backs of the folded pieces of paper, and the relative humidity color variation of the cracked surface on the front. Copper carbonate and cupric oxide are used on the front sides of the paper. The greenish blue copper carbonate was derived through electrolysis in water with copper rods as electrodes. The black cupric oxide was obtained by boiling the water and copper carbonate mixture. The cracks on the surfaces depicting the relative humidity developed during the drying process and serve to introduce a stochastic element in the composition. |
