This composition shows the end result of a process involving an electrochemical reaction taking place on the surface of the piece. The four copper rods configured in a grid formation serve as one pole for the reaction. The copper foil in the middle and steel on the laft and right edges serve as the other pole. This piece is part of a series exploring the physical manifestations of various materials undergoing this type of reaction and the interaction of deterministic and stochastic effects; the combination of effects I can directly control and those which occur by chance. |
