This series A consists of nine pieces. Each piece originated from a square section cut from a smoked oak bole (a slice of a tree-trunk). The dimensions were determined by the maximum possible width available at the section from which the part was cut and the requirement that each composition be square. This series explores the physical effects of certain reactions and the interaction of deterministic and stochastic processes. The compositions are the end result of a process changing over a period of time. Click on the images above to see larger images.
